Special lesson with Watercare

Today is WORLD WATER DAY!

A special visitor, Sally Smith from Watercare came to our school to teach us awesome water experiments!

We learnt that there are 3 states of water; gas, liquid, and solid.

We are the molecules of solid and are closely attached to each other.

We are the molecules of liquid and we are close to each other but not attached.

We are molecules of gas and we are separate from each other so we can move freely.

Look at me! My finger looks bigger and fatter just by putting my finger in the water!

For our next experiment, we drew an 'x' on a small piece of paper and placed it underneath the jar. Then we carefully poured some water into the jar. We crouched down to look through the jar and see what happens to the 'x'. We all predicted that the 'x' will get bigger like what happened to our fingers. But guess what? It disappeared! As we crouched down to see the bottom of the jar, there was nothing!

For this experiment, we had to fill up the water right to the top of the jar. We slowly dropped one corn each until the water starts to spill out of the jar. Before we began this experiment, we predicted that we could only put 20 corns but we could have put 48 corns! As we were putting in the corns we saw that the water was getting higher than the brim and the water didn't spill!

Brrrrrrrrmmm. Here is our water jet boat using toothpick, liquid soap and cardboard.

Thank you so much Sally for coming to our school and sharing your amazing knowledge on water!
